I would love to see an up and down vote on the war! It won’t happen though, these people want to get re-elected. Go Dennis! “Peace is inevitable if you tell the truth.” That is some powerful stuff and he’s pretty close to dead on here.

Now I’m not saying she’s drunk.  But it looks like a fun wedding!

Apparently his peers care what he has to say.

He has a point, people who don’t understand an industry should not be regulating it.

One of the reasons tea baggers are against illegal immigrants is the ‘violence that comes with them.’Prior to this attack, ANSWER had sent out the following letter:

Racism is like anything else in this world: in order to make it fall, you must smash it! That is why we are calling on all people to come out tomorrow, to organize a militant confrontation with the so-called “tea baggers.” Beating back these forces will require us to organize together, take the streets, fight the racists wherever they show their faces and drive them out of every community.

Obviously this kind of rhetoric isn’t exactly trying to discourage violent confrontations.

These Tea Partiers just got trolled. I wasn’t sure they sure would get it for a while. These people have completely marginalized the ‘tea party’ movement because instead of focusing on the single issue, lowering taxes and lowering government waste they have embraced pro-life extremists, racists and other people on the extreme right-wing side of the gambit.

John and Jackie Stowers are suing the Ohio Department of Agriculture and the Lorain County General Health District over the raid on their “Manna Storehouse,” an organic food co-op that operated in LaGrange. The case focuses first on the “paramilitary style execution of a search warrant against a peaceful family” whose only alleged crime was not getting a state permit. The second is a challenge to government claims the cooperative is a retail food establishment.

The Stowerses and their 10 children and grandchildren were detained in one room of their home for six hours while sheriff’s officers confiscated 60 boxes of fresh farm food, computers, phones and records, including USDA-certified meat from the children’s mini-farm, according to lawyers for the plaintiffs.

The state and county are accused of 119 counts, including unlawful search and seizure, illegal use of state police power, taking of private property without compensation, failure to provide due process and equal protection and a multitude of constitutional rights violations, including the right to grow and eat one’s own food and offer it to others.

At what point do we wake up and realize that we don’t need a permit to exercise rights. The right to eat seems to be as inherent as any other right but yet the government insist on having its hands on the process. Where does it stop?

The worst part of it all were the tactics employed:

The confrontation began developing several years ago when local health officials demanded the family hold a retail food license to run their co-op. Thompson said the family wrote a letter questioning the requirement and asking for evidence that would indicate they were operating a food store. The Stowers family members simply “take orders from (co-op) members … then divide up the food,” Thompson explained.

“The health inspector didn’t like the tone of the letter,” Thompson said, and the result was that law enforcement officials planned, staged and carried out the raid on the family’s home.

The “sale” of the eggs to the undercover agent was entrapment, the family’s lawyers have contended, since the family members had told him they didn’t sell food to the public and couldn’t help him. Eventually, when he refused to leave, the family gave him a dozen eggs to hasten his departure, Thompson explained.

And that was enough. Was this family threatening to, well, anyone?  No. But if given the excuse to dust off the SWAT team the Ohio Department of Agriculture will jump at the chance. So remember, next time someone doesn’t like ‘your tone,’ they may just execute a paramilitary operation in your private residence in the name of justice. Even if all you are trying to do is ensure you and your neighbors get the best price on healthy food.

It is quite ironic that the state that introduced the practice of no-fault divorce to the country and forever changed marriage would want to stop divorce entirely. Here’s a quick history lesson for all of you, in 1970, State Assemblyman Jim Hayes of Long Beach was going through a nasty divorce. To make life easier for people like himself he introduced a bill, which resulted in the nation’s most progressive no-fault divorce law.

The first full year of the no-fault law, the state registered a record 112,942 divorces, a 28 percent increase from just the year before. To put that number in perspective consider that, in 1960, there had been only 105,352 marriages in California. By 1980, embarrassed by the divorce plague in their midst, California lawmakers implemented a quick fix of world class caliber: they would no longer keep or publish statistics.

Anyway, now RescueMarriage.org, has proposed an amendment would change California’s constitution, to eliminate the ability of married couples to get divorced. They could, however, still seek an annulment. Its not on the ballot yet and would require 700,000 signatures to get an up or down vote.

The measure is being pushed by those who support gay marriage to make a point to those who argued for Proposition 8 last year. Remember those people saying that gay marriage should be banned because it ruins the sanctity of marriage and the family unit? Well this campaign is a direct, and hilarious, response to them.  I think I’m more excited for the opposition’s response than anything.
